First my mom had to have emergency surgery. 6 days in the hospital from having her appendix taken out. The appendix did not rupture but it was probably as close to that without actually rupturing. In fact it was so inflamed they had to remove part of her bowels. She's doing good, it just takes time.
The following week I received a very sad phone call from my sister. My brother in law John died. Saturday was a beautiful funeral and lots of people attended showing how Mary and John had touched so many lives.
A very sudden and unexpected tragedy was when I received a text from Rebecca that Debbie, a mutual friends, daughter died. She was only 27 years old and 7 months pregnant. What an unimaginable tragedy to lose Kristin and her baby Evie. I can't imagine the pain that the family is feeling and the loss that her husband and her 10 month old son Eddie feel. Eddie will never know the love of his mother except for those she left behind. Telling stories of her love and devotion.
Then, received a phone call that Erin's dad had died. What a tragedy. I have known Jeff Rudy for over 8 years and in those 8+ years I can count on one hand the number of conversations we had. Not saying that is a bad thing, he was a very quiet man and kept his emotions close to his chest. His funeral was this last Saturday. Although I didn't know Jeff well, it's extremely difficult to see those you love in so much pain. The funeral was beautiful and very touching for a wonderful man that was so loved.
Last but not least, Verneene's brother passed away. I probably only met him once at Jackie and Brandon's wedding, but I know the pain of losing a brother. He will be buried in Centralia Kansas, the same place my dad is buried. I definitely plan on visiting his grave when we go this spring to visit dad.
