Birthday Celebration

Celebrated Mom's 79th birthday today.  Happy Birthday Mom.  Don't you love the candle.  It's fire safety.  Better to have one big candle, than 79 small.

Thank God I'm a Country Boy (Girl)

Well,  gotta tell you, Gage has great taste in music.   He thought the song "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" was perfect for dancing.     Ignore my outfit, we've been laying the floor.

The new floor in my shop

I'm working hard to make "HornMart"  more of a nice store that people want to visit.   Not just a junk store.    The first step was to rearrange.   That meant moving everything that wasn't for sale out.   Well I couldn't move it completely out so I have half of the shop.  We still have to have the printing side since that actually makes us money.  Well got it all moved so the next step was to clean it up.    First thing, scrub the floor, clean all the walls and put down a new floor.    Look at how nice it looks, and my little helper is pretty darn cute too.  (I actually bought this tile probably 10 years ago, knowing one day I would need it).

Rosary for a very special lady

That lady just happens to be my daughter.    I've made rosaries for Brandon, Johanna and Elin.   Poor Jackie had to ask for one.   What a good mother :(

Well,   here's her special rosary.  It's made with swarovski crystals and each color has a special meaning.

Sapphire Blue is for September, Jackie's Birthstone
Emerald is for March, Brandon's Birthstone  (actually aquamarine is the birthstone.  See note below.)
Rose is for October, the month Jackie and Brandon were married
Diamond is for April, Johanna's Birthstone
Blue Zircon is for December, Elin's Birthstone
The Our Father Beads are for March, the month that Jackie and Brandon's marriage was blessed in the Catholic Church.


Great,  when doing this I just realized I did the wrong color for March.   Sorry Jackie,  I'll redo.  March is actually aquamarine, not emerald.  What was I thinking.     Maybe I was thinking green for St Patrick's Day which is in March.  

Also made a rosary for Luke Stanley who's proud God Parents are Jackie and Brandon.

My new Sewing/Laundry Room

My sewing room/laundry room is complete, and I'm pretty happy with it.    Amazing what can happen when you reorganize.

This is my table that I got at a garage sale for FREE....that's right for free.    So this is on one wall.

Next wall, the washer and dryer.    Since I do laundry once a week, usually on Sunday, my dryer is an ironing board and my washer is a cutting workstation.  Brilliant!   Why didn't I think of this sooner.

I showed you this before but I added a peg board on the wall and moved my supplies in there.   I actually used it last night and it worked PERFECT

If feels so great to get this all organized.   Now on to the next step (it's a secret) but you will see lots of pics once I get going on it.

Oh, and for my kids, yes the rest of my house is a disaster.  It always is when I organize.  :)

Remembering

Hmmmm what's up with this.   Heard this song on my mp3 player and a rush of memories came back and tears started flowing.     Not sure why,  I hear this song at least once a day since it's on my mp3 player.    Maybe it's partly because I'm working on a golf towel for a special friend that just lost her mother.   Thinking of all the people that I love that I have lost in the last 5 years.....I just know this,  it's too many

My new sewing cabinet

How often do you find exactly what you are looking for.    I sold my sewing cabinet that came with my embroidery machine that I bought on CraigsList.   It just wasn't practical.   I had something in my mind and didn't think I would find it.   Well today we went to ReStore, the store that is stuff that is taken out of houses when remodeled.  I was looking for a kitchen base cabinet.   Walked in and there it was.   I also had an old top to a desk out in the barn, cut it down to fit and presto!   I have the perfect sewing cabinet.

It's standing height, I can store my laundry baskets below, plenty of work space.   Yeah for me.

Kids are always so curious about cameras.   Every time I take a picture she says,  "I see Hanna"  Then she wanted to take pictures.    Here's her photo shoot.

Gage is finally big enough to ride on his own ATV.   He spent a little time riding with his brother and then took off on his own.

Well,  it's been about 6 weeks and I've missed you dear blog.   So guess what.   I'm coming back.   I may not post daily, so don't harp on me for that, but I have way too many picture that I must share with my family.   Look forward to lots of postings.
