Kitchen Countertops

 I have sealed the butcher block kitchen counter tops and they are so pretty.   Brought it out to a beautiful rich color.   Another step in the process done.

Wainscoting

 Well another item to check off the list.   The bathroom had ugly plastic sheets  that kind of looked like square tiles.   The key word is "kind of".  It wasn't pretty so it is now gone and replaced with pretty bead board.   First step of many for the bathroom.  I also decided to put wainscoting in laundry room.   They had water lines run on the wall and the sheetrock work was too much for me.    Looks good now!

 New ceiling fans and the added bonus is they have remotes!    They look so pretty and so much better than the old brass ones.

YouTube Saves the Day Again

 I watched a video today on how to install weather stripping on the front door.    Doesn't look like much but the house is getting ready for winter. 

Kitchen and Laundry Room Floors Down

 Ok, another thing we can check off the list.   I've never laid linoleum before but it's amazing what you can find on youtube.   This took be a week or so.  Had to strip off all the old flooring then lay down the new.  Other than putting the quarter round down the floors in the kitchen and laundry room are done!

Here's the steps:

1.  Scrub the floor good and make sure there are no goobers on the floor. If you are wondering what the white paint on the floor is, well I spilled paint so just rolled it out!

2.  Carry in the heavy 12' roll of vinyl.

3.  Lay it out and trim to fit, you don't really want to see that picture, not too exciting.

4.  Pull the linoleum back half way.

5.  Start gluing, and hope the youtube video was correct.

6. Start praying that when you lay it all back down it fits.  

7.  Use roller to get out bubbles

8. Stand back and be proud of the new floor!

My plan was not to do the floor until the walls were done but plans change.  They are bringing over the washer and dryer on Thursday and I didn't want to move things twice.

My Little Helper

 Ada came by after volleyball and wanted to paint so bad.   I put my shirt on her and booties on her shoes so she wouldn't get paint on anything.   She did an awesome job.

New Guttering

 I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I see the gutter company pull up.    Gutters are done.

We can check that one off the list now!

 Wow, 13 years ago these two little love birds married.   This is what you call a match made in heaven.

 Mom finally got to come see her new home and she gave me two thumbs up.

Next Time, Call in the Professionals

 There is a lot of things that I will try but next time I will definitely leave it to the professionals.

First of all we had a lot of damage from leaking windows.   Now that the windows are new it's time to repair the damage that was done.

First thing, clean up all the bad sheet rock.  I told you it was bad!

I don't have a clue what I'm doing but here goes nothing.

First thing is add some insulation since I pulled out all the yucky stuff.

Next cut sheet rock to fit and mud it in.  I watched a youtube video so how hard could it be?

Boy was I wrong.   Never again.  Once it dries I will be sanding and more mud!

What a Difference

 It's amazing what a little TLC can do for a house.  It turns a house into a home.  

It's an amazing difference.

New Windows

 Well it's the last big project.  New windows and they look so pretty.   
I never new windows could make me so happy!

The crew has arrived.

I had them convert the front picture window to 3 windows that all open for a great breeze.

This window was a real mess.

Special rain glass in the bathroom windows.  Allows a lot of light and you can't see through.

Stripping Off Old Vinyl

 I think this is the last thing that I have to tear apart before I start putting everything back together.    Strip vinyl flooring off bathroom and kitchen flooring.  

Tools for the project include mask, heat gun and 5 in one tool.  

And by the way the heat tool is really hot, even when it's off. 

 The Wichita zoo is having a special feature of Wild Lights.  It was really cool.   All kinds of animals done in lights.    Special fun time with the kids.

A shrimp, because we know how much Uncle Mike likes shrimp.

2021 is the year of the Dragon.  Elin just happened to be born in the year of the Dragon.

Jackie is the year of the dog.

Sammy and I are the year of the Monkey.

This peacock was beautiful.  When it raised it's feathers, all the kids ran!

And of course when we were leaving there is a really cool car that Sammy had to have a picture with.
