Outdoor German Festival
On Friday we all decided to check out the German Festival that was being held in Minneapolis. Fun was had by all, from drinking warm mull cider, hot chocolate, and seeing the reindeers....oh and fried cheese, pretzels, chocolate croissants.....way too much good stuff to eat.

Happy Thanksgiving
We had a fabulous time in Minnesota with Mike and Erin hosting all of us. I wonder if they knew what they were in for having 11 of us come to stay. Erin went over the top with all the food. Everything was perfect. Thanks Erin for all the hard work and delicious food.
Dessert included pumpkin cheesecake, my personal favorite, french silk pie, and apple pie. And yes, all made from scratch.
This is what Thanksgiving is all about.

My Mother the Poet
One thing we all love about birthdays is hand made cards from my mom, Gigi. Well, this time I think she has outdone herself. She called and ask me what Jaxson was interested in. It was time to start working on his birthday card. The Royals, of course. Anything baseball. Well, not being one of baseball's avid fans she decide to start watching the playoffs so that she would know what to write. It's perfect and he loved it.
Here's the inside of the card.
Take Jaxson out to the Royals Game
Take him out to the crowd.
Buy him some peanuts and cracker jacks
and he won't care if he ever gets back.
It's like the TWILIGHT ZONE.
The game is mind blowing
Magnificent plays & gum to chew.
"THATS WHAT SPEED DO"
The Moose was loose and Cain was too.
Base Hits & Catches & Homeruns blue.
Aoki, Dyson, Perez & Shields were live
Moustakas gave us moose bumps
And Eric Hosmer gave us a dive.
The saying goes:
Thou shalt not steal.
Unless your Billy Butler.
American League Champions
And like JAXSON HORN
Champion from the day he was born
Isn't Gigi the best!

A Labor of Love
To make a long story short, I started this quilt 3 years ago for my grandson who proudly announced at Preschool graduation that he was going to be a construction worker when he grew up. He also proudly calls himself a worker man.
I finally just realized that if I didn't finish it, it wasn't going to get done by itself. I was a little worried because he told me he didn't want construction any more. He wanted Royals. Really!!!!
I lovingly told him, too bad. You are getting construction. Well tonight he showed that he loved it.

Happy Birthday Jaxson
I remember the day he was born like it was yesterday. It was a long long long labor but when he came out, by C-Section, he was 10lbs and 13oz. He was as big as the isolette they had him in. I sobbed like a baby when I saw him. He was perfect in every way and looked exactly like his dad. It was like I was stepping back in time. Love you so so much Jaxson.

Italy Through the Eyes of the Horns
Erin and Michael did a really cool video of their trip to Italy. There is a bit of Paris at the end. For those of you who aren't friends with Michael on Facebook I thought I would share the link.

The hits just keep on comin'
So, just sat down and relax after taking a big adventure out to WalMart. I receive a panic phone call from Mindy that she needs help. It's Gage and he's hurt.
Stan and I jump in the car, well as much as I can jump, and drive as fast as possible to get to Jeff and Mindy's house. Jeff and Jaxson were gone, at a baseball game. We get there and Gage has fallen and cut his head open. Can I tell you how much head wounds bleed. Stan carries Gage to the car where I tag along on my scooter and Mindy with her crutches. Urgent care is closed.....we go on to the Emergency Room. The look we got when we walked, or should I say lumbered in. Mindy on her crutches, me on my scooter and Gage covered in blood. One lady even looked at us and said, "Not your week huh"
Well, we got in pretty quick and were taken back to a room. Gage was more worried about all the blood all over himself. Stan had to rush home because in our rush to get out of the house, I left a big pot of eggs boiling on the stove.
Once we get in the room the doctor came in and started stitching him up. Can I tell you how brave Gage was. He never even cried. He was such a big guy. 5 total stitches. 1 on the inside and 4 on the outside.
Once we were ready to check out here comes Papa. He took us all to Sonic so Gage could get a big treat for being so brave.
In the mean time, poor Jeff calls and is quite worried. They were in the middle of playing a ballgame and he didn't check his phone until the game was over. He showed up just after we got home. Whew......what a night. Things happen in threes, so I think the Horns are done!

Foot Surgery
Well update on my foot surgery. I had surgery on Sept 5. I had a bone spur on my heel that is under the Achilles Tendon. They had to cut the Achilles Tendon, shave off the bone spur and then reattach the bone spur. Also I have a bone out of place by my 4th toe so they cut and fixed that while they were "Under the Hood"
Here's how I started 10 days ago.
Well after going to the doctor today, 10 days later it looks exactly the same.
The doctor said that both the incision looked good and it looks like I didn't do any damage when I fell last week. At lease that's good news. Stitches need to stay in another week and then after that I can actually wash my foot. Boy that will be nice.
I do have a new mode of transportation..
The scooter does give me some freedom. I was even able to go outside and weed eat the other day. Boy I miss driving.
Well Wednesday of this week I will be going back to work. Don't know how I'm going to survive without a nap. Guess we'll see.
